CTOnews.com March 7, according to South Korean market research institute SNE Research data, January 2023 global electric vehicle battery load 33GWh, an increase of 18.1% year-on-year, down 54% from the previous month.

Judging from the specific ranking, the global loading volume of the Ningde era in January was 11.2GWh, an increase of 6.5% over the same period last year, still ranking first. BYD ranked second, with global loading of 5.8GWh in January, up 78.8% from a year earlier. LG New Energy ranked third with 4.3GWh. Panasonic, Samsung SDI, SK-On, China New Airlines, Guoxuan Hi-Tech, Yiwei LiNeng and Xinwangda ranked fourth to 10th respectively.

CTOnews.com noted that BYD had the largest year-on-year growth of 78.8%, followed by Yiwei LiNeng by more than 30%, and both Ningde era and Xinwanda achieved double-digit growth. China New Airlines and Guoxuan Hi-Tech experienced double-digit declines compared with the same period last year, especially when China New Airlines fell by more than 40%.

It is worth mentioning that in January, six Chinese power battery companies had an overall global market share of 59.7%, while three South Korean companies, LG New Energy, SK-On and Samsung SDI, had an overall market share of 23.2%.

The global market for electric vehicle batteries has continued to grow since the third quarter of 2020, the research institute said. Global battery usage for electric vehicles is expected to reach 749 GWh this year, an increase of nearly 45 per cent over the same period last year.
