CTOnews.com, March 9 (Xinhua) Tesla's design director, Franz von Holzhausen, recently shared a photo of a prototype Cybertruck car, but seemed to inadvertently show that its huge windshield wiper was not working well, causing heated discussion on the Internet.

As can be seen from the photo, the electric pickup has only one wiper and cannot clean a large area of the windshield.

In addition, CTOnews.com notes that, unlike most cars whose wipers lean neatly against the hood, Cybertruck's wipers seem to stand upright along the side of the windshield when not in use.

It is not clear whether the windshield wipers in the photo will appear in the final production vehicle, as the Cybertruck is still under development. Tesla's CEO Elon Musk had previously said that there was "no simple solution" to clean up the huge windshield. Musk tweeted in 2021: "deployable wipers in the front suitcase would be ideal, but complex."

The original design of the 2019 Cybertruck didn't even have windshield wipers. Last year, Tesla seemed to be experimenting with a smaller windshield wiper that stretched out and retracted.

The Federal Motor Transportation Safety Administration does not have a standard for the design of windshield wipers, but requires the device to remove dirt from designated parts of the glass in front of the driver's seat.

The original design of the Cybertruck also did not have a side rearview mirror, and Tesla was forced to add a side rearview mirror because of the regulations of the US government.

Mr Musk said on Investor Day last week that Cybertruck would be delivered this year, about two years later than he initially predicted.
