Recently, an industry analyst commented on the matter and may have pointed out the exact reason for Sony's strong opposition. According to industry analyst Michael Michael Pachter, the acquisition will deal a severe blow to Sony.

"this deal will hit Sony hard, but it won't hurt consumers," he said. " Michael Pacht believes that a XGPU subscription of $15 a month is more cost-effective than buying a new console, a call of Duty game and PS Plus / Xbox Live Gold membership.

Microsoft has previously said that if the acquisition is successful, it will bring "call of Duty" to multiple players, including XGP and Xbox cloud gaming services, so Sony may lose some potential users, mainly "call of Duty" campaign mode players, who may buy the full "call of Duty" game before, but after the acquisition, they only need to subscribe to XGP for a month.

Michael Pacht had previously claimed that Microsoft's acquisition of Activision was likely to succeed. Microsoft aims to complete the acquisition by June 2023, but that will depend on its progress in convincing competitors and regulators.
