Further delay in the delivery of TSMC Zhongke 2nm plant
CTOnews.com, March 14, according to a report in Taiwan's Economic Daily, Taiwan's Central Science and Technology Administration once again announced on March 13 that it would postpone the development schedule of TSMC's 2 nanometer plant. It is expected that the land acquisition and related planned operation procedures will be completed in October. After the land is handed over in November, public works and manufacturers will start at the same time.
TSMC 2 nanometer plant plans to set up factories in Baoshan and Zhongke respectively. Wei Zhe-Jia, president of TSMC, said at the law meeting in January this year that the progress of TSMC 2nm was better than originally expected, and that it was making good progress to maintain the plan of risk trial production in 2024 and mass production in 2025.
The second phase of the expansion of TSMC's Zhongke Taichung Park is planned for two or four wafer factories. construction was originally scheduled to start this year, and the first 2nm plant can be put into production by the end of 2024 at the earliest.
TSMC's consolidated revenue in February was about NT $163.174 billion (CTOnews.com note: currently about 36.714 billion yuan), down 18.4% from a month earlier and up 11.1% from a year earlier, according to financial data. Revenue in the first two months of this year was about NT $363.225 billion (currently about RMB 81.726 billion), up 13.8 per cent from a year earlier.
