It is reported that semiconductor manufacturer Infineon is considering selling it as a whole, rising more than 11% at one point in intraday trading.
CTOnews.com March 15, Reuters quoted sources as saying that Infinera, with a market capitalization of $1.6 billion, is working with investment bank Centerview Partners to start the sales process within a few weeks, but is not sure whether Infinera will reach any deal.
Infineon didn't respond to a request for comment, and a spokesman for Oak declined to comment.
As of CTOnews.com, Infinera shares closed up 7.74 per cent at $7.38, up more than 11 per cent at one point in intraday trading and continuing to rise after trading, with a market capitalisation of $1.643 billion.
Infinera, a vertically integrated manufacturer headquartered in San Jose, California, is a pioneer in the design and manufacture of large-scale photonic integrated circuits (PIC), mainly in the production of optical semiconductors and network equipment for fixed-line and mobile telecommunications networks.
Oaktree Capital, a credit investment firm controlled by Brookfield Asset Management Ltd, sold its equipment maker Coriant to Infinera for $430 million in cash and stock in 2018 and now has a seat on Infinera's board.
