OpenAI, which has been very successful on ChatGPT, has not stopped their continuous exploration of large-scale language models, and they launched a new generation of natural language processing model GPT-4 on Tuesday local time.

According to news posted on OpenAI's website, the new GPT-4 is their most advanced system, with more accurate problem-solving capabilities and superior reasoning capabilities than ChatGPT, which was launched in November last year and has more than 100 million users.

Like the previous large language models of GPT, GPT-2 and GPT-3, OpenAI draws on the infrastructure of Microsoft, a partner and a major investor, on the newly launched GPT-4.

OpenAI said on its website that GPT-4 was trained on artificial intelligence supercomputers in Azure, Microsoft's cloud computing business, and that Microsoft Azure's artificial intelligence-optimized infrastructure also allows them to provide GPT-4 to users around the world.

It is worth noting that the day before OpenAI launched GPT-4, on Monday local time, Microsoft disclosed on its website that they and OpenAI began working together in 2019, and after reaching a partnership agreement, the two companies began to work closely together to build supercomputing resources in Azure that were designed and dedicated to allow OpenAI to train the increasingly powerful AI model suite. The supercomputing facility they built uses tens of thousands of Nvidia GPU for artificial intelligence optimization and is connected together through a high-throughput, low-latency network based on Nvidia quantum InfiniBand communications for high-performance computing.

As for the cooperation with Microsoft, Greg Brockman, president and co-founder of OpenAI, also said that the supercomputer jointly designed with Microsoft Azure is very important for them to expand their demand for artificial intelligence training, making it possible for them to do research on systems such as ChatGPT.
