CTOnews.com March 18, Radxa ROCK3 Model C is a single board computer the size of a credit card that looks a bit like Raspberry Pi, but has more input and output options, including M.2 2230 slots that can be used to add storage or wireless network cards.

The Raspberry Pie 4 uses a Broadcom BCM2711 chip, while ROCK3 Model C uses a 1.6 GHz Rockchip (Ruixin Micro) RK3566 quad-core ARM Cortex-A55 processor. The chip provides low CPU performance, but it has a built-in neural processing unit that makes it more suitable for AI applications. The Rock3 Model C starts at $39 (CTOnews.com Note: currently about RMB269).

The starting price applies to models with only 1GB LPDDR4-3200 memory and no storage, and upgrading to 2GB memory models costs an extra $5 (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 34 yuan). Versions with 4GB or 8GB memory are not available yet, but are expected to be released soon.

In addition to the M.2 slot, the Radxa single board computer has a microSD slot that can also be used for storage and supports optional eMMC modules.

The single board computer port includes:

1 HDMI

1 x 3.5mm audio

1 USB 2.0 OTG

1 x USB 3.0 host

2 x USB 2.0 host

1 x GbE Ethernet (Ethernet is supported with optional HAT)

There is also a MIPI CSI camera connector and a MIPI DSI display connector (although the system only supports one monitor at a time, so it cannot be used if the HDMI port is used).

Other features include support for 24bit / 96 kHz audio, 40-pin expansion connectors, support for optional RTC batteries, and support for Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.

According to Radxa, the board measures 85 x 56 mm and can be used with a 5V / 3A USB Type-C power supply, but if you use a SSD on a computer, a 5V / 5A power supply is recommended.
