CTOnews.com March 20, the Arch Linux-based SystemRescue 10 live Linux toolkit for system rescue and recovery tasks today released new options, new software packages, and updated components to provide better hardware support.

The last version of SystemRescue 9.06 (CTOnews.com Note: the last version of the 9.x series) was released three months ago. The new SystemRescue 10 series comes with the long-supported kernel Linux 6.1LTS, which supports new devices and features.

Several new packages have been added to this release, including the QtPass graphics front end pass, a simple password manager that supports GnuPG encryption, an casync content addressable data synchronizer, stressapptest and stress-ng for stress testing computer systems, and an Tk GUI toolkit.

SystemRescue 10 also adds some new features, such as grub loopback.cfg support, boot custom hooks for GRUB and Syslinux boot loaders, and a "gui_autostart" YAML configuration that allows users to run programs at X startup.

Among other changes, this version brings back the xf86-video-qxl driver and removes some deprecated autorun features, such as autoruns=, scripts with\ r\ n, and old paths.

SystemRescue 10 64-bit or 32-bit systems are now available for download from the official website. SystemRescue can be used directly from the command line or through it using the default graphical interface of the Xfce 4.18 desktop environment.

SystemRescue does not need to be installed, users simply use the SystemRescue USB Writer utility to write the ISO image to the USB flash drive, which is the recommended USB installation method on Linux systems.
