The Valencia superbattery plant, which mainly produces power batteries for entry-level electric vehicles for brands such as Volkswagen and Skoda, will go into production in 2026 with an annual production capacity of 40GWh, the source said.
In addition, Volkswagen said it would expand its capacity at the Valencia superbattery plant, which is expected to reach 60GWh.
Volkswagen will also build its first battery unit plant in North America in Canada, allowing Volkswagen cars to receive subsidies from the US government that require batteries for electric vehicles to be made of North American materials, according to CTOnews.com.
