Apple has won a new Apple Watch patent: it can test whether bicycles are helpful and calculate users' calorie consumption more accurately.
CTOnews.com, March 31 (Xinhua) according to a list published by the United States Trademark and Patent Office, Apple has obtained a technology patent related to Apple Watch. The patent can detect whether users are riding ordinary bicycles or electric bicycles, thus calculating their calorie consumption more accurately.
The electric bicycle is equipped with integrated motor, which can assist the rider to ride. Due to this propulsion assistance, wearable devices overestimate the metabolic equivalent (MET) based on workload (WR), resulting in inaccurate calculation of user energy consumption.
CTOnews.com learned from the patent that by testing the Apple Watch wearer's heart rate, workload (WR) and other comprehensive judgment whether users ride a helpful e-bike, and calculate calorie consumption more accurately.
