According to CTOnews.com, April 1, some Google Drive users have encountered a hidden limit of no more than 5 million file items (including files, folders and shortcuts) stored in their accounts.

If this limit is exceeded, the system will pop up: "error 403: this account has exceeded the creation limit of 5 million items. To create more items, move the items to the Recycle Bin and delete them permanently."

Google has not officially announced the restriction, and there is no description in the official document. And this restriction applies to all Google Drive users, even at the highest level of subscribers.

A Google spokesman then responded to the foreign technology media ArsTechnica, which CTOnews.com translated as follows:

The 5 million content limit is a safeguard that we have put in place to avoid affecting the stability of the system, improving stability and reducing abuse.

For most computer users, 5 million items may never be reached during the life cycle. However, if the contents of small documents are stored frequently, this limit may be triggered more quickly.
