April 3 news, South Korea previously released data show that due to the decline in demand, their semiconductor exports fell to 5.96 billion US dollars in February, far less than the 10.37 billion US dollars in the same period last year, down 42.5 per cent from the same period last year.

Judging from the latest data released, South Korea's semiconductor exports improved in March, but the year-on-year decline has not been reversed, far less than the same period last year.

Foreign media quoted data from South Korea's Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Customs Office as saying that semiconductor exports in March were $8.6 billion, up from $5.96 billion the previous month and an increase of 44.3 per cent from the previous month.

Although there was a big increase from the previous month, exports of South Korean semiconductor products in March were still far less than the US $13.12 billion in the same period last year, down 34.5% from the same period last year and the eighth consecutive month of decline.

Semiconductors are important export products of South Korea, accounting for about 20% of South Korea's overall exports for a long time. The decline in semiconductor exports is bound to affect South Korea's overall export situation.

Data from South Korea's Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Customs Office also show that in March, South Korea's overall exports were $55.13 billion, down 13.6% from a year earlier, while imports were $59.75 billion, down 6.4% from a year earlier, resulting in a trade deficit of $4.92 billion.
