CTOnews.com, April 5 (Xinhua)-- Now Launcher is a Google starter launched in 2013 that displays Google Now cards on the phone's home screen and provides personalized information and advice, similar to Google Assistant today. Now Launcher was once one of the iconic apps in Google's Nexus range of phones, but it was replaced by Pixel Launcher in 2016. Now, seven years later, Google has finally decided to shut down Now Launcher completely.

According to 9to5Google, a message was found in the latest beta code of Google Apps that Google warned users that Now Launcher would stop running at the end of April. This means that any user who is still using the starter will need to find another starter within a few weeks. According to Google, if the user does nothing, the phone will automatically revert to the default initiator.

Google Now is not just a simple starter, it began in 2012, gradually gave birth to a number of features, and then integrated into other products, such as Google Chrome browser and ChromeOS system card function.

In fact, the number of people affected by this change is small, because devices still running Google Now Launcher may no longer be suitable for everyday use. According to CTOnews.com, the Nexus 5X and 6p are the last Google phones to use Now Launcher, and Google stopped security updates on these phones in 2018, basically announcing the end of Google's Now experiment.
