According to CTOnews.com, Italy announced last week that it temporarily banned ChatGPT from operating in its territory based on the EU's General data Protection Regulation (GDPR) law. In addition, the Italian data Protection Agency launched an investigation into ChatGPT's alleged violation of privacy rules at the end of last month. The agency believes that there was a loss of user conversation data and payment information on the ChatGPT platform on March 20. In addition, the platform does not inform the collection and processing of user information, and lacks the legal basis for collecting and storing a large amount of personal information.

According to Italian requirements, OpenAI is required to inform regulators within 20 days of the measures taken by the company to implement its requirements through its European representative, otherwise it will be fined up to 20 million euros or 4 per cent of the company's annual global turnover.
