Huawei, MTN and HIMA cement companies release the country's first commercial case of 5G industry in Uganda
CTOnews.com April 11 news, Huawei issued an announcement, announced with Uganda telecom operators MTN and HIMA cement company, jointly announced the first 5G digital cement plant project in Uganda. This is Uganda's first commercial application of 5G technology in the manufacturing industry.
The project plans to deploy 5G in the cement plant and make use of the characteristics of 5G technology of "high bandwidth, low delay and wide connection" to realize real-time data transmission in the production area and drive edge computing and other functions and applications, so as to significantly improve the production efficiency of the factory.
CTOnews.com learned from officials that MTN, together with Huawei, demonstrated the significant advantages of 5G in terms of ultra-high speed and ultra-low latency. The partners also demonstrated two new scenarios brought about by the application of 5G technology, including 5G-driven EHS (Occupational Health, Safety and Environment) training application and video monitoring application, which is safer than on-site training and can monitor and determine the failure and accident risk of plant operation in more real time.
