Governor of Nuevo Leon: Tesla Mexican super factory will take 12-15 months to build
April 17, according to foreign media reports, Samuel Garc í a, governor of the Mexican state of Nuevo Leon, recently announced that the Tesla Mexican super factory will take about 12 to 15 months to build, which is longer than the time it took Tesla China to build the Shanghai super factory.
On March 1 this year, Musk confirmed at Tesla Investor Day in 2023 that Tesla will build a factory in Nuevo Leon, Mexico, to produce the next generation of electric vehicles based on the new car platform. The factory will be 20 times the size of the domestic Shanghai factory, covering an area of more than 4200 acres (16.9968 million square meters).
It is reported that it took Tesla China only nine months to build a Shanghai super factory, holding the record for building a super factory as soon as possible. Tesla's Mexican superfactory is expected to take longer to build as the company is committed to building a new production line for its $25000 compact model, Garc í a said on Sunday local time.
Earlier, on March 6 this year, Garc í a said that Tesla might start producing its first cars in Mexico next year, and that the company was about to obtain final permission to build a plant in the Mexican state of Nuevo Leon.
In early April, Tesla revealed in the third chapter (Master Plan Part 3) of the Grand Plan that his next generation of cars will include a small electric car, which will be equipped with 53kWh's lithium iron phosphate battery and is expected to sell 42 million units.
