Thanks to CTOnews.com netizen Colorful M for the clue delivery! CTOnews.com, April 18 (Xinhua)-- Yuan Ji, an assistant professor at the School of Information Engineering, Shenzhen Graduate School of Peking University, and a team of three master's degree students have developed an AI office assistant tool called ChatExcel, which can realize the interactive control of Excel through text chat, according to Peking University.

The ChatExcel beta was released on February 28, 2023. Half a month later, the number of daily active users of the public test web page peaked at 110000, and the cumulative number of independent IP visitors exceeded 2 million.

According to the team, "users do not need to remember various operation formulas and say commands to it (ChatExcel) directly in text form, and this software can complete various tasks in Excel. The aim is to reduce the difficulty of using this professional software."

No need to remember functions, no need to manually set formulas, as long as the dialog box under the table in the text input requirements, ChatExcel can complete the self-run, and can export the Excel table with one click.

According to the team, ChatExcel can also meet the needs of users for continuous interaction and iterative updates. "New requirements put forward by users + forms generated in the previous round" can meet the needs of users to test results, return and redo at any step, and make adjustments and modifications at any time. It can also achieve cross-table collaborative processing. The product is completely open, and testers can use it unlimited number of times without registering any information or opening a web page, which greatly reduces the threshold and technical difficulty of using Excel.
