Following the example of Tesla, Rivian CEO said it would open its charging network to owners of other brands of electric vehicles.
April 20 news, according to foreign media reports, recently, Rivian CEO (CEO) RJ Scaringe said that the company will open its electric vehicle charging network to other brand owners.
While most carmakers rely on third-party charging networks, Rivian has taken a similar approach to Tesla by setting up its own electric vehicle charging network, called the Adventure charging Network.
For a long time, Tesla's supercharging station was only open to Tesla drivers. However, on February 28 this year, Tesla announced the official opening of some US supercharging stations to owners of other brands of electric vehicles.
Tesla will open at least 7500 supercharging stations to non-Tesla electric vehicles by the end of 2024, according to a statement issued by the US government on February 15. Among them, 3500 new and existing supercharging stations will be opened along the highway, and 4000 slower Level 2 charging stations will be opened at hotels and restaurants.
At present, the electric vehicle charging network operated by Rivian is only open to its own drivers. But Scaringe said it would open up the network to help promote the popularity of electric vehicles. Foreign media reported that the company would follow Tesla's example by opening its charging network to non-Rivian drivers as early as next year.
EVAdoption CEO Lauren McDonald (Loren McDonald) said that in the next few years, Rivian's "adventure charging network" could become the fifth largest charging community after Tesla, Electrify America, EVgo and ChargePoint.
