Google's financial situation is tight, shelving plans for a large-scale park of 324000 square meters.
CTOnews.com, April 22 (Xinhua)-- Google began lobbying and promoting the construction of an 80-acre "large park" (mega-campus) in San Jose, California, in 2019 (CTOnews.com Note: about 324000 square meters). However, due to the decline in revenue and many other factors, the latest news that Google has shelved the project.
Google plans to buy the land in the "West side" of San Jose in 2019, but there is strong opposition from activists who do not want to sell public land and land with historic buildings to Google.
Google actively lobbied local government departments, and San Jose approved Google's construction permit after promising to spend $200m (currently about 1.376 billion yuan). Google needs to pay $200 million to meet the housing needs of thousands of affected local families and build 15 acres (about 60800 square meters) of parks and so on.
Google had planned to start construction in early 2023, but the project has been on hold for a variety of reasons. Most of the historic sites and favorite local attractions on the site have been demolished and are now a wide, barren field.
