With a life of 1.5 million kilometers, Northvolt plans to put into production commercial truck batteries this year.
CTOnews.com Scania and Swedish startup Northvolt established a partnership in 2017 to develop traction batteries for commercial vehicles.
After years of research cooperation, the two sides announced that they will put into production later this year and commercialize a new traction battery with an estimated service life of 1.5 million kilometers.
CTOnews.com learned from the report that Scania officially stated that the battery cell voltage put into production was 3.6V and the capacity was 157Ah, but did not disclose other characteristics and chemical composition. Northvolt claims that aggressive use of wind and water in the manufacture of these batteries could reduce the carbon footprint by a third compared to similar batteries.
