Opera, owned by Kunlun Wanwei, had revenue of $87.1 million in the first quarter of 2023, an increase of 22% over the same period last year.

CTOnews.com, April 27, reported that Opera (NASDAQ:OPRA), a subsidiary of Kunlun Wanwei, announced unaudited financial results for the first quarter of 2023. Opera revenue for the quarter was $87.1 million (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 604 million yuan), an increase of 22% over the same period last year. This is also the ninth consecutive quarter that Opera revenue has increased by more than 20% compared with the same period last year. Adjusted EBITDA (earnings before tax, interest, depreciation and amortization) is $21.7 million (currently about 150 million yuan), with a profit margin of 25%, compared with an adjusted EBITDA of $7.3 million (currently about 50.589 million yuan) in the first quarter of 2022.

Here are the highlights of Opera's business in the first quarter and in the near future:

In the first quarter of 2023, Opera advertising revenue grew 26% year-on-year, accounting for 56% of current total revenue, mainly driven by the continued higher-than-expected Opera Ads business.

Opera search revenue grew 18% in the first quarter of 2023 compared with the same period last year, mainly due to Opera's continued focus on the needs of high APRU users in developed markets.

Opera GX game browsers surpassed 21.7 million in PC and mobile MAU this quarter, up from 20.3 million in the fourth quarter of 2022.

This quarter, Opera announced a partnership with OpenAI and the launch of a browser with integrated generative AI services.

Looking ahead, Opera expects revenue in the second quarter of 2023 to range from $92 million (currently about 638 million yuan) to $94 million (currently about 651 million yuan), and adjusted EBITDA to $18 million (currently about 125 million yuan)-$2000 (currently about 139 million yuan) Full-year revenue in 2023 is expected to be $373 million (currently about 2.585 billion yuan)-$390 million (currently about 2.703 billion yuan), and adjusted EBITDA is $77 million (currently about 534 million yuan)-$8300 million (currently about 575 million yuan).
