CTOnews.com April 29 news, Medtronic recently announced that insulin pump product 780G officially approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Medtronic 780G includes insulin therapy pump and Guardian 4 Constant Glucose Monitor (CGM), creating a hybrid closed-loop delivery system that regulates blood glucose by controlling insulin secretion through dietary monitoring technology.

CTOnews.com Note: Like Dexcom products, Medtronic 780G monitors blood glucose every 5 minutes, notifies users of Apple Watch, iPhone and Android phones when high or low blood glucose is detected, and automatically regulates blood glucose. Unlike Tandem's system, users currently can't control their insulin pumps via their mobile app.

Medtronic 780G has been marketed in Europe since 2020, submitted an application for approval of 780G to FDA in 2021, and received regulatory clearance in Canada in 2022. However, FDA postponed the factory inspection in July 2021 due to quality control problems.

In the U.S. pivotal clinical trial of the MiniMed 780G system, users had blood glucose within the set range (70-180 mg / dL) 75% of the time and below that range 1.8% of the time.
