CTOnews.com May 1 news, as early as 2016, Microsoft launched the Unified Update platform (UUP) to enable Windows to be updated seamlessly between different devices. In October 2022, Microsoft launched a public preview of UUP on Premises, promising faster and smaller Windows updates.

Microsoft claims that the new UUP download speed can be increased by 30%, and because .NET Framework updates will also become part of UUP, the performance of .NET updates on Windows 11 22H2 will also be significantly improved.

Of course, it is not perfect, and it may be due to the accidental deletion of the necessary UUP MIME type, which causes WSUS upgrade problems.

After a series of tests, UUP on Premises was finally released to users on March 28, and Microsoft promised to reduce the size of each update after downloading the initial content of 10GB.

Cumulative updates integrated with functional updates (that is, a restart to complete the current update)

Seamlessly retain installed language packs and optional on demand features (FOD) during feature updates

Reduce client downloads of feature updates (that is, limit update downloads of preloaded applications)

Automatically repair the operating system during the update process without the need for an enterprise administrator

End-user access to language packs and FOD
