Musk's advice to Apple: post something on Twitter and there will be more fans.
Thanks to CTOnews.com netizens Xiao Zhan cut, Hello _ rabbit clue delivery! CTOnews.com, May 2 (Xinhua) Elon Musk, founder and CEO of electric car maker Tesla, said on Monday that Apple would have "more fans" if it posted content on Twitter. Musk is the owner and CEO of Twitter.
Musk made the comments in response to a tweet from electric car analyst Sawyer Merrit. Merritt pointed out that Tesla's main Twitter account now has more than 20 million followers, which is four times that of any other car brand and twice that of Apple. Tesla's Twitter account sent only 180 tweets last year, but garnered nearly 1 billion views, Merritt said. However, analysts also noted that the account was reposted by Musk.
As of CTOnews.com, Tesla's Twitter account had 20 million followers, while Apple's main Twitter account had 9.1 million followers. Meanwhile, Musk has 137.7 million followers on the platform he owns. Although Apple's main Twitter account has not posted any tweets, a number of other Twitter accounts have posted about the company, including CEO Tim Cook, who has 1400 million followers. The @ applesupport account also has 1.5 million followers and regularly updates information about Apple's activities.
There may be potential synergy between Tesla and Musk on Twitter, as the carmaker's followers increased 53% year-on-year to 19 million last year, according to a report. Musk also played an important role as the most followed person on the platform.
In April 2022, Musk bought the company from Twitter's board of directors for $44 billion. The deal was completed in October 2022 after Mr Musk tried to cancel the deal and Twitter sued him. Mr Musk now owns about 74 per cent of the company.
