Car thefts rose 548%, New York City handed out 500 free Apple AirTag to curb the situation
CTOnews.com, May 3 (Xinhua) New York City Mayor Eric Adams (Eric Adams) encourages car owners to use Apple AirTag to track and protect their vehicles in order to curb the rising rate of car theft.
Adams said that in order to advance the project, AirTag was distributed free of charge to car owners. Adams prepared 500 AirTag worth $29 each, donated by the non-profit organization Association for a Better New York.
The main purpose of the event is to curb theft of cars such as Hyundai and Kia. Free AirTag will be distributed in Castle Hill, Soundview and Parkchester communities, where theft increased by 548 per cent year-on-year.
