The report says the price of TSMC chips made in the United States is 30% higher than that made in Japan by 15%.

The report points out that the cost of N4 and N5 processes at TSMC's US plant is about 20% to 30% higher; TSMC's Kumamoto plant in Japan produces 10% to 15% more chips on N28 / N22 and N16 / N12 nodes.

TSMC plans to pass on the high cost of making wafer plants in the US and Japan to customers to maintain its gross margin target of 53 per cent.
