Boston power robot learned boxing? Fake videos went viral on social media

CTOnews.com, May 3 (Xinhua) A video of Boston Dynamics robots doing backflips and boxing in the forest has gone viral on social media, with more than 3.2 million views on TikTok and 1.7 million views on Twitter. Many netizens are surprised and worried about this technology, questioning why Boston Dynamics should teach robots to fight. However, this video is actually made using computer generated Image (CGI) technology and is not true.

The video was first posted on Saturday by a TikTok account called Bostom_Dynamics (pay attention to spelling details). The next day, the video was posted on Twitter, where it was shared by a user and questioned: "Why did Boston Dynamics teach their robots to fight?" Many users on both social platforms thought the video was real and expressed concern about the technology. However, many people doubt the authenticity of the video, and many netizens think it looks like it was made with CGI technology.

This video is not real, and there are several pieces of evidence to prove it. First of all, the TikTok account that posted the video uses the misspelled name Bostom_Dynamics. Second, Boston Dynamics doesn't have a TikTok account. The video also did not appear on any of Boston Dynamics's social media accounts, including its popular YouTube account. Twitter has added a community reminder to the video that the video is not real. Some users in the response said that Twitter's prompts helped them judge the authenticity of the video.

CTOnews.com found that the video was just one of many fake Boston powered robot videos made using CGI technology, including those from the visual special effects YouTube channel Corridor Crew, which also used CGI technology to bring Boston Dynamics robots to life.
