Everyone is required to change their user names, and the game chat community Discord announces improvements to the system.

CTOnews.com May 4, the game chat community Discord announced on its blog today that the company is changing its user name system to make it easier for users to contact their friends and to better control their identity on Discord.

Since 2015, every Discord user name has been case-sensitive and has been accompanied by a code number (for example, # 0001) to ensure the uniqueness of the user name. However, it also means that users must remember a set of four-digit numbers and be case-sensitive to get in touch with friends.

Therefore, the new username system removes the code digits and introduces new, unique usernames and nicknames.

Discord officials say that in the next few weeks, every user will be eligible to change their user name to a new user name without a number, and all users will eventually need to choose a new, unique user name to use Discord. In addition, the earlier the Discord account is created, the earlier you are eligible to select a new user name. For example, users with a five-year Discord account will qualify earlier than those with a two-year Discord account.

The new user name is lowercase alphanumeric, limited to certain special characters, and has no distinguishers, making it easier to remember, read, enter, and share. The additional requirements for CTOnews.com are as follows:

Lowercase letters a to z

The numbers 0 to 9

Some special characters

Underline

English dot symbol

The length must be at least 2 characters and a maximum of 32 characters

The new nicknames do not have the above restrictions, and users can change them at will, or even make memes.
