CTOnews.com, May 6 (Xinhua)-- Apple shares surged nearly 5% on Friday, hitting a nine-month high and the biggest one-day gain since November last year, after Apple announced its results for the second quarter of 2023 yesterday.

Noel Landvich, a Reuters financial columnist, said that as the world's most valuable company, revenue and profit fell in the quarter to April 1, but still exceeded analysts' expectations.

Apple's stock market capitalization climbed more than $100 billion to about $2.7 trillion (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 18.66 trillion yuan), expanding its lead over Microsoft, the world's second-largest company by market capitalization, at $2.3 trillion (currently about 15.89 trillion yuan).

Apple's latest share price, at $173.57, will be the biggest one-day gain since November 30, up 4.69%, close to its peak of more than $176in August last year.

Apple's all-time closing price was $180.68, which was set on January 3, 2022.
