The agency believes shipments have returned to pre-epidemic levels, with 31.6 million tablets shipped in the first quarter of 2018 and 30.1 million in the first quarter of 2019.

The report said Chromebook shipments were 3.8 million units, down 31 per cent from a year earlier. IDC believes that this is due to the fact that some suppliers have withdrawn some orders due to the expected increase in ChromeOS licensing costs.
