On Saturday, local time, Berkshire Hathaway released its first-quarter 2023 results. The company reported first-quarter revenue of $85.393 billion, up 20.54 per cent from $70.843 billion in the same period last year, while net profit attributable to shareholders was $35.504 billion, up 540 per cent from $5.58 billion in the same period last year.

Berkshire's cash reserves increased by $2 billion in the first quarter of 2023, to $130.6 billion from $128 billion in the fourth quarter of 2022.

During the quarter, the company bought back $4.4 billion worth of shares, the most since the first quarter of 2021 and up from $2.8 billion at the end of last year.

The company held its annual shareholders' meeting after announcing its first-quarter 2023 results. At the meeting, Warren Buffett, chairman of the company, and Charlie Munger, vice chairman, shared their financial insights and life lessons.

Asked about Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard, Buffett said: "I think they have done a very good job." At present, Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard has fallen into a bottleneck due to opposition from CMA in the UK. However, Microsoft plans to hire professional lawyers to try to overturn CMA's ruling.
