Proton's first new energy model, X90, is on the market.

CTOnews.com May 8 news, Malaysia Proton 40th anniversary celebration and X90 launch ceremony held in Kuala Lumpur, Proton launched its first new energy model-X90. With the support of Geely strategy, Proton launches at least one new energy product every year, and trains 5000 new energy vehicle talents with Proton system in 5 years.

CTOnews.com note: in 2017 Geely Holdings signed a final agreement with Malaysia's DRB-HICOM Group to acquire 49.9 per cent of DRB-HICOM 's PROTON and 51 per cent of luxury sports car brand Lotus.

Proton car sales increased from 64744 in 2018 to 141432 in 2022, an increase of 118%. By the end of 2022, Proton Motor had doubled its operating income, ranking second in Malaysian market sales and market share for four consecutive years, and ranking first in overseas export sales.

In April this year, Geely also signed a deepening cooperation framework agreement with DRB-HICOM Group to carry out in-depth cooperation around Malaysia's Danrong Marin Automobile High-tech Valley. In addition, smart, a subsidiary of Geely Holdings, has signed an agency agreement with Proton to launch its first electric car, smart # 1, in the Malay market in the fourth quarter of 2023.
