CTOnews.com, May 8 (Reuters)-Volkswagen will announce late Monday that it will remove the leadership of its troubled software division Cariad and appoint Peter Bosch, head of Bentley production, to take the helm, according to Reuters.

Volkswagen is preparing an official statement on Monday afternoon local time detailing how Cariad is in trouble because of missed deadlines and overruns and how it will be restructured, according to sources who spoke on condition of anonymity.

Volkswagen will fire most of the current executive board members of the department, leaving only Rainer Zugehoer, the head of human resources, according to the report.

Peter Bosch will also take over the financial management of Cariad, the source said, confirming an earlier report by the German business newspaper. Thomas Guenther, who is currently a senior vice president of Cariad, will join the board in a technical position, they added.

As previously reported by CTOnews.com, Volkswagen CEO Oliver Blume conducted a strategic review of all aspects of the company after taking over from former leader Herbert Diess in September last year, which led to a radical change.

A new software platform designed to achieve "L4" autopilot was originally scheduled to be launched in 2026, but has been delayed until 2030, according to sources.
