Sony announced the closure of "Spirit in the Wall" game studio PixelOpus: not in line with the company's strategic goals
Thanks to CTOnews.com netizens Daniel Wu in South China, rain and snow for the delivery of clues! CTOnews.com, May 8 (Xinhua)-- Sony's game studio PixelOpus announced that it would be closed, and officials released a commemorative tweet on Friday local time:
"Dear friends, our PixelOpus adventure is over. As we look to the future, we want to express our heartfelt thanks to the millions of enthusiastic players who have supported us."
CTOnews.com inquiries learned that PixelOpus Studios was founded in 2014 and launched its first game, Entwined, later that year. Since then, the studio launched the painting-based adventure game "Spirit in the Wall" in 2019, which has been nominated for numerous awards, including two BAFTA game awards.
The third game of ▲ "Spirit in the Wall" PixelOpus, announced in June 2021, is a PS5 game developed in partnership with Sony Pictures Animation. However, with the studio cut, the prospects for the project may be very bleak.
"PlayStation Studios regularly reviews the status of its product portfolio and studio projects to ensure that they are in line with the organization's short-term and long-term strategic goals," Sony said in a statement to IGN. "as part of the recent review process, it has been decided that PixelOpus will be closed on June 2."
