Covering an area of 1.2 million square meters, Fujikang spent 3 billion rupees to buy land in India.
CTOnews.com, May 10-Foxconn bought 1.2 million square meters of land at Devanahalli, near Bangalore Airport, for 3038057050 rupees (CTOnews.com), according to an official document filed with the London Stock Exchange on Tuesday.
The area of this land is equivalent to 50 Manhattan city blocks. The document also shows that another unit of Foxconn is acquiring a 480000-square-meter land use right in Vietnam's Nghe An province.
Basavaraj S. Bommai, chief minister of Karnataka, India, said in March that Apple would produce the iPhone "soon" at a new plant that would create "about 100000 jobs."
Navkendar Singh of international data, a market intelligence firm, told AFP that Apple had a "huge success" in India, where it sold 6.7 million iPhone units last year.
