CTOnews.com, May 10, according to the latest list released by the US Trademark and Patent Office (USPTO), Apple recently obtained a new patent for foldable phones, the biggest highlight of which is to allow crease areas to heal themselves.

According to the patent description, Apple plans to repair the creases through external heat, light, electricity or other types of external stimuli.

The screen of the hinge part adopts a flexible screen cover layer, which can be inserted between the first rigid part and the second rigid part of the display cover layer.

Apple says the display overlay of electronic devices may be scratched or sunken. In order to improve the aesthetics of electronic devices, it may be necessary to reduce the presence of scratches and dents, so a layer of self-healing material is introduced into the screen covering layer.

The self-healing material layer can be formed on the entire display cover layer, or only in the flexible area of the display cover layer. The display cover layer may include an elastomer layer in a flexible area of the display cover layer to increase flexibility.

The self-healing process can be realized actively, or it can be initiated and accelerated by heat, light, current or other types of external stimuli.
