On May 10, BEYOND Expo 2023 officially opened in Macao, China. At the opening ceremony held in the morning, Pan Jianwei, vice chairman of the China Association for Science and Technology and academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, delivered a speech. When talking about quantum science, Pan Jianwei said that in order to ensure the healthy development of the field, academia has set goals for three stages of development.

The first stage is to realize the superiority of quantum computing. The quantum computing system can solve some specific problems much faster than the classical supercomputer, so as to show the superiority of quantum computing itself.

The second stage is to build a special quantum simulator. It is used to solve some specific complex problems that classical computers are not competent for, such as the mechanism of high temperature superconductivity.

The goal of the third stage is to realize universal and programmable quantity calculation with the help of quantum error correction.

Pan Jianwei also revealed that the optical quantum computing prototype of Chapter 3, which has 255 photons, is 1000 trillion times faster than the classical supercomputer in solving specific problems.

BEYOND Expo 2023 will be held at the Venetian Macao Golden Light Convention and Exhibition Centre from May 10 to 12. The theme of this Expo is "righteous Science and Technology Technology Redefined". Focusing on sustainable development, life sciences, consumer technology and other fields, through independent exhibition areas, industry summits and in-depth exchanges in various sub-fields, we will jointly promote the overall upgrading and reform of the industry.
