Ubuntu announces adaptation to Sai Fang Technology VisionFive 2 RISC-V single board computer
CTOnews.com, May 11, according to the official WeChat release of StarFive, Canonical announced that Ubuntu fits the VisionFive 2 RISC-V single board computer of Sai Fang Technology.
Canonical released an optimized Ubuntu version on May 10 for the Sai Fang Fang 2 (VisionFive 2) single board computer (SBC), a performance RISC-V single board computer with integrated GPU.
According to reports, RISC-V 's open instruction set architecture (ISA) realizes the freedom of software and hardware design on the architecture. The architecture can be widely used in a variety of processors, down to low-end microcontrollers, up to high-end server-level processors.
In August 2022, Ubuntu adapted the first generation of VisionFive development board, and this time Canonical and Sai Fang Technology successfully transplanted Ubuntu to VisionFive 2 SBC.
Users can now use Ubuntu images on the Sai Fang Technology VisionFive 2 SBC, and follow-up work is expected to include the introduction of some new features and port support for the latest version of Ubuntu.
