CTOnews.com, May 11 / PRNewswire-FirstCall-Asianet /-- Mustafa Suleyman, co-founder of DeepMind and former vice president of Google AI products and Policy, recently warned at an investment forum in the Bay area of California that AI will seriously threaten the survival of white-collar workers in the next decade and bring "a large number of losers."

Suleyman pointed out that the first problem facing governments is how to help those who have lost their jobs as a result of AI, and the establishment of a national basic income is one of the potential solutions. "this requires material measures as compensation, and this is a political and economic measure that we must begin to seriously discuss." Suleyman's comments echo a recent Goldman Sachs report that AI tools such as ChatGPT could lead to a productivity surge that would boost global GDP by 7 per cent within a decade. However, the potential cost may be "severe damage" to the labour market, as many as 300m jobs could be affected by AI, according to Goldman Sachs.

CTOnews.com learned that after Mustafa Suleyman left Google, he founded Inflection AI, a machine learning company, and launched an AI robot called Pi. Suleyman is committed to making Pi a friend and interlocutor, not an auxiliary tool.
