Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--
CTOnews.com, May 18, in order to help people with disabilities, Adobe Systems announced the launch of automatic tagging PDF in Acrobat Pro and Acrobat Reader, which will also be made available to developers through API.
Adobe said that users can embed metadata in PDF files, and people with disabilities can use auxiliary tools such as screen readers to grasp structural information such as headings, paragraphs, lists and tables.
However, it can take a long time for users to mark the compatibility of digital documents, especially for documents with complex layouts. This is also a time-consuming process for organizing old files that lack the correct metadata. Adobe Systems estimates that people with disabilities cannot read more than 90 per cent of PDF files.
By introducing Accessibility Auto-Tag API, Adobe can automatically perform the process of tagging.
The company says its Sensei AI-based software shows the correct reading order of assistive technologies, saving the company time and, more importantly, making it easier for people with disabilities to read PDF.
Automatic tagging will be available in Acrobat Pro in June, providing all subscribers with automatic intra-application metadata structuring at no extra cost. This feature will also be available in Acrobat Reader in the fall.
