CTOnews.com, May 29, according to TechCrunch, Krafton's "Battlegrounds Mobile India" (BGMI) can now be re-downloaded from the Android platform in the Indian market after being banned by India for national security issues for nearly a year.

Krafton said today that version 2.5 of BGMI has been launched, which includes a new map called Nusa and some new weapons.

India's Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology said earlier this month that it would provide a three-month verification period for BGMI's return to India. The department will keep a close eye on whether there will still be various risk factors, including addiction, after the BGMI is back on the shelves. In response, Krafton said it would limit game time to three hours a day for players under the age of 18 and six hours for adults.

According to previous reports from CTOnews.com, BGMI and its predecessor "PUBG Mobile" were once one of the most popular games in India. "PUBG Mobile" was banned from operating in India in mid-2020 because of what India called national security issues, and then Krafton launched an India-specific version of BGMI, but the new version was also banned by Indian authorities in July last year.

Some analysts have pointed out that the return of BGMI may open the door for about 300 other apps that seek to re-enter the Indian market. For example, Shein has previously disclosed a partnership with Reliance Industrial Group, run by India's richest man, Mukesh Ambani, to return to the Indian market.
