Beijing, May 31 (Xinhua) Elizabeth Holmes, a female version of Jobs and founder of Theranos, a blood testing company, was officially jailed on Tuesday, starting an 11-year and three-month prison life.

Holmes reported to prison that Theranos once claimed to be able to quickly detect whether a person has cancer, diabetes and other diseases by collecting a few drops of blood from his fingertips, which is considered to have "set off a revolution in disease diagnosis" and was valued at $9 billion at one point. But after the scam was exposed, Theranos fell off the altar and went bankrupt. In January last year, Holmes was convicted on four counts. Then, in November of that year, Holmes was sentenced to 11 years and three months in prison for defrauding investors.

On Tuesday, Holmes was photographed surrendering to the Federal Prison Camp (FPC Bryan) in Bryan, Texas, the lowest security women's prison, about 90 minutes from Houston. She got out of a Ford Expedition that seemed to be driven by her mother, Noel Holmes. Her father, Christian Holmes, seems to be sitting in the car.

Holmes entered the prison with glasses, jeans and sweaters and some documents in his hand. When she entered the prison, a bystander watching in the street shouted her name.

A spokesman for the U.S. Prison Administration confirmed that Holmes arrived at Bryan Prison on Tuesday afternoon local time.

After going to prison, Holmes's life will change dramatically. She will move from a mansion that rents for $13000 a month to a small cell without a door. According to foreign media reports, she needs to get up at 6 a.m., and her hourly wage is only 12 cents, which is a far cry from her income when she runs Theranos. Reported that the prison inmates have been looking forward to the arrival of Holmes, and some even want to be her friends.

According to the prison manual in the cell where Holmes lives, 655 inmates at Blaine Prison are required to work in canteens or manufacturing plants at a starting salary of $1.15 an hour (contrary to the report). Before starting to work in a factory, Holmes may need to take a test to assess her skills in business, secretarial, digital, logical, mechanical and "social" areas. Prisoners can also participate in the Lean six Sigma training program to learn how to operate efficiently. Lean six Sigma is the combination of lean production and six Sigma management, and its essence is to eliminate waste.

The prison manual reads: "We try our best to help female prisoners find jobs that suit their advantages in factories so that they can develop more marketing skills."
