CTOnews.com, May 31 (Xinhua)-- Google quietly ended its support for its first Chromecast TV stick product in April, ending a decade-long update, according to 9to5Google.

Google's first Chromecast was unveiled in 2013 and more Chromecast have been released since then. The first Chromecast updated version 1.36.159268 in November 2022, bringing only "bug Bug fixes and improvements". Users can still use the original Chromecast, but Google warns that problems may arise in the future.

The Google Chromecast help support page indicates that support for the first generation of Chromecast is over, which means that no updates will be received thereafter. In addition, Google will no longer provide any type of technical support for the product. While the devices will continue to work, Google said "users may notice performance degradation".

Therefore, if users are still using first-generation Chromecast, they may need to upgrade. Pricing has not changed much since the original Chromecast was released a decade ago, with the latest model priced at $30 and Google expanding its product line to offer a 4K version of Chromecast, suitable for most modern televisions.
