CTOnews.com, June 1 (Xinhua)-- Apple opened two Apple Store stores in India last month, with first-month sales of between 440 million and 500 million rupees (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 3779.6-42.95 million yuan), more than double the highest revenue of the country's electronics stores during the non-Diwali festival, according to Economic Times.

Apple opened India's first Apple Store retail store, BKC, in Mumbai, India, on April 18, with first-day sales of more than 100 million rupees (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 8.59 million yuan). For comparison, the main local electronics stores have monthly sales of 2000-3000 million rupees (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 1.718 million-2.577 million yuan).

While Apple's Apple BKC revamped sales in India, the Apple Saket store, which opened on April 20th, performed better in terms of revenue per square foot.

The area of Apple BKC is about 22000 square feet, while the area of the Saket store is more than 10000 square feet. Although the Saket store is more than half smaller than the BKC store, the two stores have similar sales of 2.2-250 million rupees, the report said. The two stores also had more than 6000 customers on their opening day, CTOnews.com reported, citing ET.
