CTOnews.com June 2, according to financial data company S3 Partners, semiconductor short sellers have accumulated paper losses of US $18 billion so far (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 127.8 billion yuan). For every $1 of semiconductor stocks shorted, short sellers lose $0.92, Bloomberg said.

Nvidia shares have risen 31 per cent in the last five trading days, forcing short sellers to buy back Nvidia shares in large quantities.

S3 Partners pointed out that against the backdrop of Nvidia's surge in semiconductor shares, short sellers had to buy back a large number of shares to close their positions, including on Semiconductor, Texas Instruments, on Semiconductor, Microchip and other semiconductor companies. CTOnews.com noted that as of press time, the Philadelphia semiconductor index is up 39% this year, the highest level in 16 months.

It is worth mentioning that the short sellers did not admit their losses and leave the field. In the past month, short sellers have added a total of about $1.4 billion (currently about 9.94 billion yuan) to seek a turnaround. It is understood that the first three short sellers are AMD, Marvell Technology and FPGA manufacturer Ledith.
