CTOnews.com June 3, with the promotion of AI assistants such as Bing chat, Microsoft announced today that it will end its support for Windows Cortana voice assistant by the end of the year.

CTOnews.com learned from Microsoft's official announcement that the Windows independent application of Cortana Voice Assistant will be discontinued at the end of the year and will not affect other platform versions, such as Outlook mobile version, Teams mobile version and so on.

Back in 2014, Microsoft began testing the Cortana virtual assistant, named after artificial intelligence in the game Halo series, and then Cortana was pre-installed on Windows Phone and Windows 10 systems.

However, as Microsoft's strategy changed, Cortana was gradually unbundled from personal computers to become part of the Microsoft 365 office scenario.
