CTOnews.com, June 3, according to KuaiBao of India, Indian telecom company Reliance Jio is in talks with Tesla, and Reliance Jio hopes to build a dedicated 5G network for the latter's manufacturing plants in India.

▲ Touyuan: Reliance Jio reported that Reliance Jio, a telecom operator led by India's richest man, Mukesh Ambani, is in talks with Tesla on the establishment of a private network. The report pointed out that further progress will be made only if Tesla finalizes his plan to set up a manufacturing plant in the country. The report quoted people familiar with the matter as saying that the 5G network will be a special line for Tesla and will not be open to the outside world. At present, the negotiations are still at a very early stage.

In addition to Tesla, Reliance Jio is also contacting other automakers and hospitals that may use 5G to discuss building dedicated 5G network services, the report said. Industry insiders point out that private 5G networks will help these institutions achieve high-speed communication and increase the data carrying capacity of enterprise networks.

CTOnews.com saw in the data that Reliance Jio is not the first telecom operator to seek to help large enterprises set up private 5G networks. Earlier, Reliance Jio's competitor Airtel established a partnership with carmaker Mahindra to deploy a 5G private network at Mahindra's Chakan plant.
