The strike of Hollywood screenwriters continues, and plans to take advantage of WWDC23 popularity to protest at Apple retail stores today.

CTOnews.com, June 5, according to foreign media 9To5Mac, the American Writers' Union (WGA) is trying to take advantage of media attention to Apple and tonight's WWDC 23 to spread the two-month Hollywood screenwriters strike to Apple's several Apple Store stores in the United States.

Thousands of Hollywood screenwriters took to the streets in early May to call for higher pay after WGA failed to reach an agreement with Disney, Netflix and other entertainment companies on pay increases, according to CTOnews.com. As the matter has not yet been resolved, the strike has continued to this day.

▲ WGA is preparing to distribute copies of the flyers today because Apple has the original content division of Apple TV +, so the company is also one of the negotiators of WGA. Therefore, in order to expand the influence of the strike, WGA plans to hand out leaflets to a number of Apple Store retail stores, including Apple Park Visitor Center, to protest at the same time as WWDC. Planned stores also include a flagship store on Fifth Avenue in New York and a retail store at the Tower Theater in Los Angeles.

Many Apple TV + programs currently in production have also been interrupted by the strike, including high-profile hits such as the second season of the thriller Severance.

As entertainment companies are still in talks with other large industry groups, including the Directors Guild of America and the Actors Guild of America, the WGA strike is expected to be difficult to resolve in the coming months.
