Industry insiders predict that, like the current smartphone competition, MR Track will be a "confrontation between Apple and anti-Apple groups" in the future.

Industry sources have previously revealed that Android camps, including Samsung Electronics, Google and Qualcomm, are developing MR products with the goal of launching as early as this year. Among them, Google is responsible for the development of MR dedicated operating system, Qualcomm is responsible for the development of MR dedicated chipset, and Samsung will launch MR hardware products.

Sameer Samat, Google's vice president of product management, said at Google's annual developer conference in May: "We are excited about our new partnership with Samsung Electronics in the immersive XR space. Samsung filed a trademark application for Galaxy Glasses with the Korean Intellectual Property Office in February this year. Industry insiders speculate that Samsung XR products are shaped more like regular glasses than ski goggles like Apple Vision Pro.

It is worth noting that this is also the first time the Android camp has united for the XR market. In the past, every Android faction member chose to fight alone and then gave up. Google, for example, launched Daydream in 2016 to develop a VR platform for smartphones, but abandoned the plan in 2019. Samsung launched Gear VR headsets with Meta subsidiary Oculus in 2014, but has not released related products since.

CTOnews.com previously reported that market research firm Counterpoint Research expects global MR / XR headset shipments to grow from 18 million units in 2022 to 110 million units in 2025 and reach 1 billion units by 2030.
