United Airlines upgrades 300000 airborne entertainment systems: 4K OLED screen, wireless connection AirPods, 100W fast charging
CTOnews.com June 9, United Airlines announced the adjustment of in-flight entertainment (IFE) system, allowing users to use their own headphones such as AirPods to watch movies and TV dramas.
When flying economy class, passengers are unable to use AirPods or other wireless headphones to watch entertainment provided by IFE without a Bluetooth adapter, so they are forced to use relatively "shoddy" headphones.
CTOnews.com learned from the report that the US Federation has announced the installation of 300000 Astrova IFE systems provided by Panasonic Avionics on some new Boeing 787s and Airbus A321XLR aircraft.
The back screen of the Astrova IFE system has been upgraded to 4K OLED, providing clearer image quality and better contrast.
Astrova can also provide high-fidelity 3D space audio with its latest Bluetooth technology. Passengers no longer need to carry extra Bluetooth adapters and can directly use wireless headphones such as AirPods.
The Astrova is also equipped with a USB-C port to charge your phone and tablet with a 100W DC power supply.
